Strategy Guide for: Rush Games
By: Jacen Solo

This section of the strategy guide will instruct you on how to win at rush games and also will instruct you how it achieves a win if the first rush fails. This strategy guide for rush games is written for use with the "Blood Bath" map.

There are 3 main types of rushes, which coincide, with each race. The fastest and in my opinion the best rush is the 6 Zergling rush. This rush is extremely fast and can result in a victory in under 3 min (the best time I have accomplished is aprox. 2 min and 30 sec). The second fastest rush is the Zealot rush, which is not, has fast as a 6-zergling rush but is far more powerful. The last rush is the terran Marine rush. This is the slowest rush but can be just as affective as the Zealot rush, however I would not recommend it. With regular Starcraft this rush is usually only done with marines but with Brood War, when medics are included this rush becomes a force to be reckoned with. The first and most important thing that you must remember when you are rushing is speed. If you are not fast your rush will fail and you will most likely loose. To accomplish this speed you must try to be as quick and efficient as possible with gathering minerals because the amount of minerals, and how fast you gather them is the deciding factor in rush games.

The next part in this strategy guide will give you step by step instructions in the rush. It is important that the instructions are followed without much variation or else you will take too long.

6 Zergling Rush

1. Start the 4 drones you get at the beginning gathering and also with the 50 minerals you receive make another drone. When that worker is done get him gathering minerals as well.
2. Once you have enough minerals for another drone make it and when it hatches get him gathering until you have 150 minerals. Once you have 150 minerals take that worker and make a spawning pool.

3. While your spawning pool is growing make another drone and use him to scout for your opponents base. Also save up 150 minerals for your 6 Zerglings.
4. When your spawning pool hatches you should have 3 Overlord control left, at least 150 minerals and the location of the enemies base. As soon as the spawning pool is done make your Zerglings and the second they are hatched send them too attack. In this game of rush 10 seconds could mean the difference between a win and a loss. It is also a good idea to put the Zerglings into an attack group so you can select them easily (this can be done by selecting them and then pressing and holding control and then the number 1. This can be done with all the other numbers on the keyboard including 0). Immediately after you send the Zerglings, make an Overlord so you can start making more units. When your Zerglings get to your enemies base the first thing you attack is his workers and any attack units he may have. If you can manage to kill all his workers there is almost a 100% chance he will loose. After all his workers are dead attack his Command Center, Nexus, or Hatchery and then any other buildings he has.

This next section will explain what to do if your initial rush fails.

5. If your Zergling rush fails the first thing you should do is make 2 other worker and then construct 2 sunken colonies. This will spoil any attempts at a counter attack.
6. The next thing you should do is start gas production so you can construct a Hydralisk Den and start making Hydralisks. Also you should make more drones to gather minerals.
7. The next thing you should do is try to claim all the bases by either starting another base there or putting a small number of troops in each base. This will prevent the enemy from claiming any more bases. If you are using the map Blood Bath you can run out of minerals very fast. This is an advantage to the person with all the bases because they can starve their enemy of them until they cannot build anything else and it is jut a matter of time until they die.
8. After you claim all the bases start making Hydralisks and also beef up your ground defense. Then when you feel you have enough guys attacked him again.
9. This should get you through the hardest part of coming out of a failed rush attempt, the rest is up to you though.
